How I avoid posing my wedding couples

Do you feel anxious about your wedding photography because you’re not comfortable being the centre of attention or you dread posing for the camera? Do you imagine that the photography will dominate your day and feel too overpowering for the day you’ve planned? I’m keen to show you that it doesn’t have to be that way at all. Your enjoyment of the wedding day can be enhanced by working with a photographer who allows you the space and time to enjoy your day and guests naturally, one who also understands how to shoot a couple in a relaxed way that involves no posing with no awkward moments. Being a successful wedding photographer is as much about making couples feel completely comfortable as it is about the photography. Wouldn’t you prefer to remember your time in front of the camera fondly and as an important and enjoyable part of your wedding day? Well, you can!

When I plan the photography with a couple for their wedding day, it’s always centred around the flow of the day and we ensure that flow isn’t interrupted unnecessarily. There’s no need to leave your guests at the beginning of the drinks reception for portraits, or shoot the groups straight after the ceremony, because that’s the time when your guests are full of excitement and emotion. I want to record those precious moments and help ensure you enjoy quality time with your guests and enjoy your drinks and canapés too. After this, the prospect of any groups and portraits will be welcome and you’ll be so high on excitement that it will feel completely comfortable and enjoyable

Now when we go off for some portraits you’ll be enjoying each other and soaking up the beautiful scenery at your venue, plus the emotion you feel and the energy you exude will be the key to your beautiful and completely natural portraits. There is no posing because I’m capturing the real moments between you, at pace against beautiful backdrops, so that you have a collection of images that reflect your connection and your beautiful surroundings. Don’t take my word for it, you can see how relaxed my couples are in my images below and yet the majority of them were as anxious as you are before the wedding day. Being photographed can be and will be fun.
